  1. Freezing the war will stop donations and he’ll no longer be able to steal money.

  2. Freezing the war is only ever good for rearming.

Freezing the war after Russia invaded and annexed Crimea gave Ukraine time to prepare, train, and after Trump lifted the ban on lethal weapons, arm up. Without that freeze, Russia would have been able to completely annex Ukraine in 2014.

Now, any freeze would work to Russia’s advantage.

Ukraine needs to have a solid support for defense before stopping the war.

  3. Zelensky has admitted that Ukraine doesn’t have the strength to militarily reconquer the occupied territories. The only chance for Ukrainian victory is a Russian collapse due to sanctions and attritional warfare. At the moment attrition is not necessarily going in Ukraine’s favor. Aside from the fact that Russia may not be ready to freeze the war at the moment, the only real benefit of the continued fighting for now is it keeps Western nations focused on sanctions. Whether or not this is worthwhile longterm is difficult to say.

  4. What’s Ukraines other choice?

to continue losing men and land?

  5. Freezing on paper isn’t a solution because Ukraine will be held accountable for any breach and Russia will just wipe its ass with it without any repercussions

  6. Russia will most likely lose via financial collapse, although things can be speeded up by Russia losing military too – there are various dimensions to the problem – one is manpower, another is equipment, another is logistics, supply of ammo, food, etc.

  7. He’s right, why do we even contemplate it?

Russia wants time to reload, to set up new smuggling rings and infiltrate the government.

Now is a REALLY BAD time to ease up on Russia. It’s not often Ukraine has an advantage and Putin doesn’t understand mercy.
