EXCLUSIVE: Keir Starmer slashes Young Labour funds and axes conference in fresh clash with Left

  1. Relieving. I’m in the age bracket to be in YL, and the idea they speak for all of us younger Labour members is crazy.

They’ll never speak for me, Keir’s got it right to utterly slash them out and hopefully expel them and put them into extinction.

  2. It’s very worrying that anyone who disagrees with Starmer too much is accused of either “factional nonsense” or antisemitism.

Expelling everyone who dares disagree with you is certainly one way to get the party all headed in the same direction, but it’s also a way to have a smaller, weaker and poorer party.

  3. >Posts said activists running the account for Young Labour, which is for members 26 and under, had been “actively detrimental to the party’s core objectives: to promote Labour candidates and policies, and to win elections”.

    Can’t argue with that.

  4. Kill FPTP already so Labour can split finally and we don’t have to bother with this nonsense. Starmer acting like a mini tyrant within his own party – crushing any dissent.

  5. Not so much a ‘clash with the left’ as a clash with a group that are a walking PR nightmare… Plenty on the ‘labour left’ don’t agree with dunces in Young Labour.

  6. I know the closeted Tories will continue to celebrate these sort of acts because they identify every issue with Labour as being because of a few young activists have opinions they don’t like but I absolutly guarantee this man will be blown over by a light breeze of criticism come election time.
He has absolutely nothing going for him. He’s Britain’s Hillary Clinton and if they were serious about ‘winning elections’ they’d find somebody with character and vision to represent their views. Views like….. or….. and don’t forget that really popular one ……..

The reason Labour are viewed so poorly by their core voters isn’t because of the left but because of decades of mismanagement and corruption by councils and careerist politicians. I’m against everything Starmer has done thus far, but if he could at the very least get rid of actually shit councilors and MP’s and start to improve the party on a local level I’d likely support the party again.

He wont because him and his cronies and more interested in these petty crusades and turning Labour in to the Tories.

  7. Why are people so continually surprised that Stamer’s Labour is not turning out to have left wing values?

  8. That’s it, Starmer. We’re all wondering if we’re watching the start of World War 3, but you’ve really got your finger on the pulse of what’s important; randomly picking a fight with ‘the youth of today’.

Fuck me, I don’t even care what Young Labour did. I’m not going to bother looking any further into it; that this headline exists at all right now is so fucking embarassing.

  9. I hope the Labour Party bankrupts itself into irrelevancy and a genuine socialist alternative can take its place already. Impossible to make any real change in this country when pricks like Starmer and Mandelson are the only alternative we have.

  10. Young Labour needs to either be reformed or stop using Labour’s name and choose a more appropriate name.

Like ‘Young Tankies’ or ‘Putin Youth’.

  11. Not a starmer fan but he is making the party electable. The others are the persistent protester rather than a party y9u could vote for.

  12. Unpopular opinion here: Labour needs to turn away from these socialist/communist children that are sprouting out of the internet and making them look completely unelectable. This page is a good example of them, completely detached from reality and the working class people they claim to represent.

We do not want a glorious revolution and an end to capitalism, I can’t think of anything the every day voter cares less about.
