Was there a step change in Irish society that caused this? When I was younger most tradesmen would have had a cup of tea in the house when doing work.

I normally just leave the tea, coffee, sugar, mugs, and spoons oot for them beside the kettle and just tell them to help themselves.

Had a guy fixing the boiler there just before pandemic. And of course gave him cups of tea etc while he worked and we chatted. Told me that in some of the posh areas (D4 and the link) they wouldn’t even let him have a piss.
Ah tbh sometimes depending on the timing a cup of tea is really annoying in your tummy if your doing a lot of lifting / bending and it also overheats you. I’d just say here, lads can I make ya a cup of tea at any stage ? Then they’ll say sure now or like just before with lunch. Had two lads replacing the dishwasher and bust out the Barry’s master blend all was well. Had others replacing windows at my parents and my mam was dieing to get a cup of tea into them but it’s heavy work until they’re in position so they held out 😂
That’ll be the influx of Polish builders now. No head for a sup of tae and staring into a hole in the ground.
