One of the reasons I’m inclined to believe these numbers are roughly accurate is the fact that they match up relatively well with Russian recruitment figures. According to the Russian government they have recruited about 440,000 troops in 2024 and Russia is on track to suffer about 420,000 casualties according to the Ukrainian government. This roughly lines up with what we’ve seen at the front as well.

The number of attacks by the Russian army on the front lines remains very high.
– Intense attacks by Russian and North Korean units continue on the Kursk front. Russian sources mention progress at one point, but these reports are questionable.
– On the Kharkiv front, unsuccessful attempts at offensive by the Russian army continued in the Vovchansk city area.
– In the Kupiansk and Lyman areas, very intense attacks did not bring success to the Russian army. The offensive on the Siversk front has subsided.
– In the Bakhmut area, positional battles are ongoing in and around the city of Chasiv Yar. Intense urban battles continue in Toretsk. There are reports of marginal advancement by Russian units, but the overall situation has not changed.
– On the Pokrovsk front, the activity of attacks increased, and Russian units have managed to advance slightly south of the city. In the southwest of Donetsk, attacks were very intense yesterday, and minor advancements were also made in this sector.
– On the southern front, Russian units were passive. Battles for the Dnipro islands continue, but Russian army attacks are low intensity.
