I got my payslip this week and attached image was on my payslip next to my gross wages. anyone know what it means? I think it’s something to do with travel but unsure as I wasn’t expecting anything. I did 2 days site work this week. new job started a number of months ago.

Some companies will pay a daily rate for subsistence if work travel is involved.
Ask whoever does your payroll to be sure, but it looks like it’s a payment to cover expenses for travel and food while working off site.
Also, it’s tax free.
Subsistence is a tax free payment used to cover travel expenses. So you done two days on site, did you stay away? If so this could.be to cover your lunch or dinner.
If your on the road a lot, staying away(like me) subsistence can be a great way to make extra money tax free.
Might be a “per diem” expense account allocation for food while you were off-site.
Many years ago I traveled on business for a company. They allowed me to expense the hotel, mileage, and gave a 20 euro daily “per diem” to cover food. The idea is that you have to eat in restaurant while on the road, as opposed to could eat cheaper at home.
