  3. Someone hit a bridge close to where we are, and on our way over to my parents place we were passed by drivers doing 60 in foggy, pitch black conditions. With standing water.

  6. Am I the only one that thinks being caught going over 110 on a British motorway should come with an automatic death sentence? The risk to other people is ridiculous, regardless of whether you are trained to do it, other people can’t be predicted.

    The exception should be police currently on duty and trained to do it more safely. Maybe.

  7. Stuff like this should come with a lifetime driving ban. Won’t happen, of course – but in theory it would immediately remove these sort of individuals out of the accident/homicide equation.

    So, drink/drug driving, speeding like it’s F1, being too infirm to drive a tractor (let alone a car), hit and run etc. Should just be a blanket ‘you now walk, Uber or take public transport’ lifetime sentence handed down.

  10. On the bright side at 7am this morning the m62 was an absolute dream. Everyone using the lanes properly, no-one on your arse being a dick. Just people driving like normal.

  12. I’m not sure how I feel about this, on a motorway if there is minimal traffic and the driver is cautious then I don’t see much difference between this and the autobahn (outside of legality of course)

  14. Not to condone it at all but it isn’t really a headline, people been driving at those speeds since the 80’s. In my impetuous youth I averaged 140 mph between Tolworth Towers and the Guildford exit of the A3 in a Capri 3.0s and on another occasion was stopped on the M4 having hit 140 in a BMW M5 but got away with a ticket because the cops hadn’t calibrated their radar properly and only stopped me because the Ferrari they were originally chasing was already disappearing over the horizon.
    There are a LOT more cars on the roads these days…. and I am very much older and wiser than I was then.
