It is a good opportunity tbf, but If it was a sufficient solution most of us would’ve done it decades ago. Unfortunately the vast majority of European cars/busses/trucks/ships/airplanes not to mention military don’t run on electricity…. and I won’t even go to heating and the industrial energy needs.
electrifying all our busses like in China would be nice
Sure thing, but like… It’d take years…
Some EU countries are literally behind mountains and have almost zero sunlight. I’m sorry, but let’s not mince the fact that nuclear energy is the cleanest backup power. And I’m saying that after the huge scare from Chernobyl being damaged by the Russians.
Well, we accidentally found the solution to climate change. Next, Russia, please invade Mongolia or North Korea and get yourself sanctioned by the Chinese.

the windfall profits come from the payments of european consumers, not from the sky.
And the countries most dependent on russian gas are not great places for renewables anyway. How about diversify
I mean Germany is one of the world leader in renewables and they still need a shit ton of gas. I wonder what other means you could also use to produce enough electricity to replace gas while not emitting CO2.
