New research suggests that Walmart makes the communities it operates in poorer—even taking into account its famous low prices.

1. I do actually believe that was part of the cycle. Make the prices so low, no one can compete, then extract wealth. Making the community poorer likely solidifies the manufactured monopoly as a side effect as the community wouldn’t be able to attract or support competition.
