But the Dons still have money to spend following the big money sale of Bojan Miovski to Girona earlier in the season.
And a report is claiming that they’re prepared to use some of it to tie up the services of 24-year-old Latvia captain Kristers Tobers.
The centre half, who can also play in midfield, is approaching the end of his current contract at Grasshopper of Zurich, although there is an option for another year beyond that.
And now Not the Old Firm is claiming that the Dons have ‘submitted an offer’ to land the star, who has also played for Lechia Gdansk in Poland as well as Liepaja in his homeland.
The Dons have benefited from a settled back line so far this season with key roles for the likes of Slobodan Rubezic and Gavin Molloy.
They’ve also recently promoted Nuno de Almeida to a new role as head of recruitment.
played assistant coach to Thelin at Swedish club IF Elfsborg in 2019.
The bulk of De Almeida’s career was spent as an international scout for the first team of Portuguese giants FC Porto, with a whopping 10 years there after concluding masters-level education in high-performance sport.
In that time some big name Porto signings included James Rodriguez, Danilo, Vincent Aboubakar, and Joao Moutinho.
But after a decade at Porto, de Almeida headed to Elfsborg to be coach/chief scout for Jimmy Thelin, before moving on to Rio Ave after one year.
