The same thing was done when Ukraine donated it’s nukes to Russia.

They are unhappy with the performance of the NATO in this war, so their solution is to enter a bespoke security agreement that involves the leading NATO member state, Turkey, and the country that has ignored all agreements to brutally invade Ukraine. What could possibly go wrong?

well, I can udenrstand them. nato has not been the most helpful partner.
I think the better alternative would be bilateral security pacts with certain countries that support Ukraine. They could sign a pact with Turkey similar to Qatar’s, become a major non-NATO ally of the US, sign some sort of pact with the UK, maybe something with Georgia and Finland. Create a web of alliances that would force as many countries to come to Ukraine’s aid as possible, then eventually NATO membership may come. Any agreement with Russia isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.
But hey what do I know? These people are world leaders fighting on the ground; I’m just some dumbass on Reddit.
What about EU then? Ukrainians are overwhelmingly wanting that.
I live in a NATO country in Europe, and I’m becoming more and more insane with anxiety that emotion is going to win out and a no-fly zone will be put in place (not that I don’t understand where the desire is coming from). Please tell me I’ve just been doomscrolling too much
Seems like a good idea, to be honest – having a treaty that obliges Turkey, Russia and the USA to declare war on anyone who invades Ukraine gives Ukraine the main benefits of NATO whilst letting Russia pretend it has achieved its stated objective, and gives Russia a symbolic win by notionally being an equal partner to the USA.
Russia gains right to use Sevastopol for its fleet for the next 100-200 years. Crimea is either independent under Ukraines or something else that dod not include it in Russia. UN can patrol it if you like.
The two provinces are going back to Ukraine, whoever feels Russian can go to Russia. Ukraine will pay 100 000 euro per household to start a new.
Ukraine is neutral. It can’t join NATO or other type of alliance without the exclusive confirmation of the EU, Russia, US. The same three guarantees its independence and in case of an attack these three must protect it (read being attacked)
That however leaves Russia as it is and the status quo as it is which is goodish. The alternative is hail mary and fuck it and go for red square parade.
i think it’s a good idea, i hope they can succeed in reaching a compromise and save Ukraine. this way Ukraine can get the neutral status they they were talking about
