Paul is very weird, I used to watch a show featuring him before the war but stopped cause I think he is fallen for “look at all these nazies in ukraine” propaganda, he is not a grifter or anything, he is genuinely progressive and very pro-union and stuff. It was wild to see him fully switch from “why is US doing this?” to “we should assassinate Putin”

Whenever people say that what Ukraine is doing is cruel, etc . It is true. But it is a necessary evil.
When any country gets invaded they have to forcibly draft people. It happens a lot more than you think. Russia would be doing it too, if they got invaded by a bigger power. And trust me it would be a lot more harsh, since they are throwing people in jail, including a 70 year old woman, who criticized the war.
I always point out, watch the lord of the rings the two towers, the preparation to the battle of helms deep. What did Rohan do to obtain soldiers?
They literally went around and took teens and old men out of the hands of their families, to fulfill their oath and duty to protect the women, children and the nation.
Story closed.
Are people serious when they say they want the Ukrainians to stop fighting so no more people die? It always flabbergasted me when pacifists say they don’t agree that killing in self defence is good. So let’s just let evil dominate all. It’s like the most naive, removed-from-reality take on this that I have a hard time fathoming how they can be genuine about this.
So the Nazis should have won, the Soviets should have won, Assad should stay in power, because living in bondage and misery, corruption, where everything that deviates from the corrupt and mad dictators vision of a perfect prison makes everyone live in constant fear of arbitrary persecution, torture and executions.
That is somehow acceptable, so we don’t risk our half-lives to stop evil? I can’t get my head around that. At all.

More people need convincing than Ukraine deserves it’s freedom.

I don’t understand the “a lot of you are dying” take like at all. What’s the alternative? russians came in and first thing first they’ve killed streetsful of people. Does no one remember the mass grave street in Bucha? Rapes and tortures, pillages and castrations of POWs. What peace are we talking about? I am all pro peace if russia is fought off from our country and has no more forces to attack us. Peace is an option when aggressor is hanged by their fucking throat. Until then war will continue.

love this guy. As someone who has spent 26 weeks in UA since August 2022 (and am heading back there in late January) it’s clear he really gets it. Hope he focuses sometime soon on the young people in Ukraine who so badly want to be part of our world.
People want to hate on destiny but he is hands down one of the best debaters on the internet.
It’s refreshing to see people give us at least some amount of agency, instead of saying that America is behind all of this and we can’t make our own decisions
