Hi, this is our cat Ginger and he’s been missing since Christmas evening. He has a dark blue collar with a pale stripe through it and some gold charms with a bell. We just moved to Lochcarron and he hadn’t been outside here before so might not know his way back. It’s very unusual for him to be gone this long as he primarily is indoor. Please keep an eye out and let me know if you’ve seen him! Also if you live locally/nearby and have a shed or anything that he could’ve gotten shut in, I’d be really thankful if you could check he’s not in there. Thank you! 🙂

  1. Okay – he may be scared as its a different place.

    1. Get the hoover, empty it into a pillowcase – hang it outside.l on the washing line.
    2. Put a used litter tray outside.
    3. Anything he loves – a toy / squeaky / blanket – put it outside.

This is to allow familiar smells to be blown about and hopefully he’ll smell them if he is hiding and nake his way back.

When it is dark, and quiet, wander about, with his fav treats shaking and call his name, again, if he is about, hopefully the noise / smell.of the treats might bring him out.

Make sure your neighbours are aware to check sheds etc cos if its been opened for any short time he could have snuck in.

    Fingers crossed.OP.

  2. Good luck, I’d be a state if mine were missing.

It’s possible that the cat is very close by. One of mine gets out and does that and I usually get him to come back in by warming a bit of his wet food up in the microwave so it’s smelly and putting it just outside the door

  3. How long did you keep the cat in since you moved to the new place?

I ask as cats can smell their way home, if it’s less than three months try hanging out the family’s dirty laundry on the line? Sounds wild but that’ll fill the local area with the smell of “home”

I’ve owned outdoor cats all my life and they’ve gone missing, one time for two weeks.

Hope the wee one comes back to you soon

  4. Update: found! Thank you everyone for the tips and support. He’s okay, a bit skittish, hungry and a cut on his ear but otherwise his normal self 🙂
