I think they mean ‘handful of hospitals temporarily require staff and visitors to wear masks on premises’.
Frankly it’s surprising that’s not normal practice in all hospitals during cold and flu season considering huge levels of staff sickness levels in the NHS *and* the number of patient discharges delayed by respiratory infections caught during hospital stays.
