Angola and Oman have signed an agreement and two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in the field of energy and mining.
Signed during an official visit by Angola’s President João Lourenço to Oman on December 19, the agreement will see Oman acquire a stake in Angola’s Catoca and Luele diamond mines.
Meanwhile, the first of the two MoUs will see the two countries cooperate in energy development. The second MoU focuses on exploring opportunities for cooperation in strategic financing initiatives.
The agreements were signed on behalf of Oman by the Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, while Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas Diamantino Pedro Azevedo and Minister of Finance Vera Esperança dos Santos signed on behalf of the sub-Saharan African country.
