Lasers and fireworks: Weapons of choice for Georgia protesters • FRANCE 24 English

Anti-government protests triggered by accusations of a rigged election have gripped Georgia for days, with riot police using water cannon and tear gas to hold back demonstrators. Now, some protesters have begun using lasers – shined into the eyes of police or used to write messages – as well as fireworks, sometimes fired from home-made launchers, to fight back.

  1. A friendly reminder that in my country prohibition ended when enough "police officers" were tired of being minecrafted by the citizenry..

    This.. over mere alcohol.

  2. Europe= mafias triades cartels bookmakers tueurs escrocs trafics profits extorsions destructions blanchiment d'argent off shore influenceurs corruptions impunités virus pandémies chiottes déversoirs extorsions….

  3. Lasers and fireworks vary greatly in damage levels; lasers from harmless to instant permanent retinal damage, fireworks are built more for a show than bodily damage and cause different degrees of burns all the same.

  5. What is going on the world?! Every 5 minutes it's a new social level or a new corrupt branch of government!! TZZZzzzz 🙅🏿

  6. Same as during HK protest, just they using firebombs and bow arrows to attack police. Well that democracy, lawful act .. should not be arrest under western law 😅

  7. In America that would be aggravated assault on a police officer to point a dangerous laser capable of maiming them, into their eyes.

Serious crime! I don't think this should be treated differently under the french law. This could blind you.

  8. To inform the uninformed; Russia funded separatists that started a war in Georgia, then invaded to "rescue and protect" "Russian speaking peoples" of Georgia. Sound familiar? Unlike with the Ukraine war, the American government did not help, and the Russians were easily able to take control and install a puppet government. Now the people are revolting against the puppet government, mainly because they are tired of the Russian influence on their country and economy, and Russia is too busy getting its face stomped on in Ukraine and Syria to help. The Georgian people want to join the EU.

  9. When police and/or military turn against their own citizens in obedience to a non-representational government, they’ve lost legitimacy – along with the government
