Putin’s attack on Ukraine isn’t just about Europe. We must rally the world against this act of war | David Lammy

  1. Has anyone else found the wests response to this crisis entirely spineless? Ukraine for it’s faults has made huge efforts to align with the EU and Nato’s rules.

Why isn’t there more military support? A no fly zone, more missile defence? It seems a lot like Russia is trying to take over a country and the west in response has removed their access to private members clubs and high end restaurants..

  2. It really looks like the same mistakes , as ones that was made with Hitler at the beginning of ww2. Is it a fear of nuclear response if hes cornered? Or just higher inflation rates was enough? No idea really.

  3. Unless ye want ww1 (“making the world safe for democracy”) and WW2 (“fighting for freedom from fascism”) to have been fought in vain, it’s necessary to get past appeasement 1938 mindset and start uniting with everyone (even resorting to triangulation with China) to stamp out this ugly little troll who abuses everyone because he was born short and ugly and is mad at the world

  4. The problem is Europe has decided war is terrible and shouldn’t be allowed, which is great but the rest of the world hasn’t got that message.

So we’ve let the militaries of the west flounder, barely any of the NATO forces actually receive the right funding or Manning, so now we have no stick to threaten with once the carrot has been ignored.

I can see Putin once he defeats Ukraine moving onto the Slavic countries one at a time, till he’s at the west’s door and we will still be mimicking Neville Chamberlain with appeasement at any cost.

And we’re slowly returning to cold war mark 2, he won’t invade nato countries but he’ll take out the independent countries.

  5. It’s also time to stop letting people like him get away with murder for years while the rest of the world sits back and does nothing. We have had plenty of time to damage Putin’s standing but chose not to, we might end up risking this again with other leaders and live to regret it.

  6. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that there’s a lot riding on the rest of the world’s response to this. Let the Kremlin Gremlin get away with this, and we could see China invade Taiwan, and possibly others following.
