  1. This is an American article. Do I even need to elaborate further?

  2. If I remember correctly, the 500% increase was a result of changing how it’s measured / reported / defined?

  3. Swedish women are welcome to come as refugees, I still have room ….

  4. What do they expect, walking around with an unveiled face like that?!

  5. So if I have understood the headline correctly, and doubtless I have, the Svens are selecting (I assume at random?) one quarter of all Swedish women to be raped, in order to compete with the record currently held by the mighty South Africans?

I suppose it is not surprising, need something to do with all that spare time and money now that you closed down the eugenics programme.

  6. Its 2024. I know people fell for this in like 2014, but come on?

  7. I wish I understood statistics poorly enough to believe this.

  8. Comparing any kind of sexual assault statistics between countries is always flawed anyway.
Seen a video of someone claiming Egypt is way safer for women than every European country cause it barely has any rape & assault cases.. Yeah if you make it impossible for women to report them or even make them legal (like rape in marriage) of course your statistics are gonna look amazing

  9. Isn’t that they defined rape differently as before so for example touching someones butt wit out consent counts as rape by now standards or something like this

  10. This certainly seems like something that someone will use to reinforce their belief.

To be sure tho, I believe Sweden is going to mandate that its women cover themselves head to toe. The act will be called ‘Shite Law’ pronounced Sure-ria

  11. Right wing propaganda.

The reason it increased wasn’t because of more brown people but about a change in the definition.

That being said, it’s still awful that women face this, be it because of a Swede or not it doesn’t matter, sexual harrassement is bad no matter the perpetrator.

  12. Is there official data for that or is that just a made up headline? I am missing the source here.

  13. I believe it because of the cropping. All of the boring information was left out. Thank you for that.

  14. Thats rather weird goal. Personally i would aim at lowering the rates but i guess people of Sweden have spoken.

  15. The fact that EVERY Swedish woman can report a male after she somehow changed her mind afterwards helps this statistic. Guy will be found guilty if he cannot prove a 100% consent.

  16. When my opponent in the misinformation contest is whoever threw this together

  17. This is all about reporting sexual assaults. Here in England, 83% of sexual assaults go unreported.

  18. And the source for this is?…

Edit: who would know. An account created 7 days ago spreading alegations without sources.

  19. ITT: Luxembourgers don’t know how to do statistics and also probably don’t exisr

  20. Context

    >In 2017, there were 4,895 reported rape cases and 190 convictions.[6] In 2018, Sweden passed a new law that criminalizes sex without consent as rape, even when there are no threats, coercion, or violence involved.[4] Sweden no longer requires prosecutors to prove the use or threat of violence or coercion. This led to a rise in convictions of 75% to 333.[6][7]

  21. Isn’t it just because they define rape differently and it’s reported more
