Yeah so quietly that it was obvious and the press didn’t report it.
I’m European , what’s the American obsession with cutting funding to the IRS? Who else is going to gather federal taxes? Who else will redistribute taxes across states? A hostility towards the tax authority is…bizarre. You can lower or increase taxes through legislative means but…this is just bizarre. Or am I assuming my subject of criticism are being rational?
Cool, all of these cyber trucks, and in less than a decade there will be no infrastructure available to accommodate their delicate constitutions.
Need to protect the interests of their donors
The Trump Oligarchy’s first wish has been granted. Next on the block are unions and corporate regulations.
~~to avert government shutdown~~
To please billionaires.
That’s not a bid to avert government shutdown, it’s Republicans making sure the IRS can’t do what the Biden administration made the big investment in it for – to get the wealthy to pay what they they really owe.
Right when everyone was reporting record profits so taxman was coming to collect 🤷oh well not like the US needed the money from these corporations/people
They will concentrate on collecting taxes from the 99% and ignore the 1%.
With less staff the IRS may take longer to process refunds for those who really need that money!
These motherfuckers don’t want the rich paying taxes at all. I hate these people so much.
Surely collecting less money while simultaneously complaining about the debt will work out fine for everyone.
Always the same shit with these kleptomaniacs
So the whole country will be wondering whats taking so long to process our returns and payments… cool. Thanks for screwing the average american even MORE with how taxes are gonna be handled.
Dems agreed to this???
So the IRS won’t be able to take the taxes of the people who owe the most but when the people who owe the most need to be bailed out it’s the US taxpayers who hold the bill. Make it make sense!
The party running on “gubmint don’t work” is the party making it impossible for government to work.
Can’t audit wealthy people and their corporations if you don’t have the budget to do so.
The returns from the IRS are pretty cut and dry, you fund it more, it produces more.
What better way to solve the spending/deficit problem? Collect less income! It’s such a brilliant idea, that my head would explode, if I even began to understand, what the actual, FUCK, they were talking about.
Smart! /s
Yeah, because averting a government shutdown is the real reason, not to help their corporate masters continue to avoid paying taxes.
Not enough money in the budget? Cut the funding for those that help fund the budget … party of fiscal responsibility my ass
Hmmmm where does the bulk of the federal govts budget come from?
Oh that’s right. Collecting taxes. Reoublicans just want to make sure it’s the regular folks who Hate them that pay taxes. For the last 2 decades dems have been the only ones cracking down on offshoring taxes and the 1% dodging their taxes.
Hence why we now have 8 billionaires in trumps immediate admin now? Those billionaires have been hurt for too long! Poor guys! How dare the American people not help them suffering!
Remember when it was considered patriotic and a civic duty to pay your taxes?
Our highway systems remember.
Duh.
Cant have people scrutinizing the books to collect taxes to actually suppport trickledown economics. Nope. Hoard wealth like fat dragons!
Never been a better time to commit tax fraud…who is going to audit you?
All hail the Oligarchy!
That’s what a criminal organization would do, if they were planning to rip off the citizens of the United States.
Hey we’re hurting on money. Let’s destroy the system used to collect said money.
Only in the US would people who claim to be excellent businessman try to cut money from the most profitable part of the government.
I have found that the only people who advocate to cut the IRS budget are 1) People with something to hide /already cheating on their taxes 2) People who wish they had something to hide or 3) People with nothing to hide right now but will in the near future.
I’ve never understood this “quietly” thing. Where the hell are the Democrats? They should be screaming about this.
And somehow the poor will magically be owing what the billionaires should be paying.
The Democrats should have held firm on the original negotiated bill.
IRS funding cut = tax break for billionaires.
AGAIN?!?! So they’ll take a few billion away each time.
Literally the only part of the government that MAKES money…
The CBO report from the same day said the loss of 20.2B would result in a loss of 60 some billion over 30 year period due to lack of funds to go after rich individuals who fail to file taxes.
Hear that America, you don’t have to do your taxes anymore. They can’t afford to go after you, they don’t have the funding.
The IRS has one of the highest ROIs of any government agency. But when they’re underfunded, they only have the resources and to audit poorer people due to the straightforward nature of their finances.
These people are not fiscally conservative
If you want to launder money and steal from Americans all across the country, step one is eliminate the department that deals with financial accountability enforcement.
Blatant corruption
I knew Biden’s funding to the IRS would be the first casualty of Republican control
