> Starmer was to go on holiday with his family on Friday but it is understood he will now stay at home.
No doubt those weirdly critical of Keir for taking a family holiday will somehow find some way to criticise him for now staying at home
Rest in peace. Losing a sibling is tough, especially a younger sibling – I’ve seen it up close. And around Christmas time too.
I hope the PM and his family can find time to properly grieve despite him having such a busy and important job.
And fuck cancer.

As someone who lost someone during December in the run up to Christmas (sudden and out of the blue, early 00s), it’s difficult to deal with loss at the best of time, let alone during a month where everything is supposed to be fun and festive. Aside from the immense grief, it also kinda changes your entire outlook on Christmas forever.🫤
That’s sad. I don’t know why there’s so much pent up frustration in this comments section, desperate to be outraged one way or the other, sums up politics on this sub I guess.
Let’s just show some genuine compassion, horrible time of year to lose someone, difficult for our PM who must be feeling the stress, and cancer sucks so hard.

Sad and particularly cruel around this time of year. My grandma lost 3 of her 5 kids within the space of two years, then her sister and now lost her brother on Christmas Eve this year, almost as a final fuck you. Fuck cancer. Sympathies to him and his family.
Death is shit, even more at Christmas. My partner’s Dad died suddenly yesterday morning. Condolences to Starmer and his family.

It is both possible to really not like a person but also feel sympathy for the loss. This is one of those situations.
Even though I have a negative opinion about Keir, he deserves a moment to grieve the loss of a brother.
Absolutely awful news for the Starmer family and I hope they are able to grieve in peace and process this. There is no doubt Nick was deeply loved and treasured by his family and I send them my condolences.
I lost my father suddenly on the 9th and I’ve been a mess for weeks. I can’t imagine having to deal with this kind of grief and be expected to lead the country.
I’ve got plenty of issues with Starmer and his version of Labour but my heart goes out to him and his family.

> Keir Starmer has paid tribute to his brother, Nick, who had cancer and died on Boxing Day aged 60.
> The prime minister said his younger brother was “a wonderful man” who “met all the challenges life threw at him with courage and good humour”.
RIP
TIL that Kier is 62 years old – I’d have put him in his early 50s.
The mods have been busy today. I take it the mere mention of our current PM has brought out some pretty poor comments.
This is just sad . I also wonder how he can grieved with such a busy role and the
Media spouting shite . Hope he can
