It's been a while since ChatGPT first got hyped in the media. Many new models and services have been released since and the technology has made a huge leap just in the last couple of months. Today there's no doubt anymore this can be used for language learning with several advantages over traditional lessons. It costs nothing in comparison, it provides total flexibility, it's a great option for shy or anxious people who struggle with human teachers, there's no pressure, I can repeat questions and ask for examples as many times as I want… I encourage anyone who wants to learn Polish to give it a try. At a minimum it's a bridge between Duolingo and human interaction, which is where many learners get stuck.

  1. The service used on the screenshots is Anthropic Claude. A limited number of prompts is free, the basic subscription I use costs 100zl a month with tax. https://claude.ai

  2. I use ChatGPT for correcting my C1/C2 exercise books and it’s fantastic.

A few months ago I was working on a mostly on mobile device implementation for a voice chat bot. Essentially had the speech to text working, used groq for cheap llama 3.X requests, and was focusing on a getting a realistic text to speech working, but never completed that last section.

With chat-gpt in voice mode, it was an amazing tool for me compared to reading / occasionally speaking with family, just the pricing is a major factor still.
