  1. If anyone here has a good explanation for the Belgian numbers, I would be interested to hear them. Especially in comparison with our neighbor countries.

    One reason could be that Belgian child care is expensive and the long school holidays make it difficult for both parents to work. However, I would have expected that the numbers are lower in Germany since their tax system is VERY friendly to families with a stay-at-home parent.

    Is this a Germanic vs Romance+Slavic countries thing?

    (Btw, the fraction of muslim citizens is quite similar in Germany and Belgium, just in case somebody wants to bring up that argument…)
