  1. Looks like a movie set. Too little change of the buildings. Even that wooden gate is still in place?

Or there was actually almost no destruction.

  2. With Tayyip all these old and ugly structures would’ve new small cute Malls. Europe needs one.

  3. According to mygrapefruit

“This photo show soldiers of the 6th Armored Division dodging sniper fire in captured town of Oberdola, Germany. 4th of April, 1945. The fallen soldier in the street is Robert Wynne. He was only 19 years old and from Texas..”

  4. I cant add link. Its here. Google Vogtei Heyeröder Str. 25, 99986 Vogtei “Die Ecke”

  5. Wow gun to my head I could swear this is like a random village in Transylvania. Uncanny.

  6. The way Thüringen is voting these days, people are feeling pretty nostalgic.

  7. I don’t know why, but I feel in the modern picture that the place has become empty

  8. Crazy how many people risked and died fighting during World War 2, and yet people continue to start wars that does nothing but cause pain and suffering.

  9. They built a monument there last year, in memory of the fallen soldier. There’s also a documentary called “Die Ecke” (The Corner) following his grand-nephew on his way to visit this place.

  10. I see an opportunity to restore some original wood facade

  11. My map says Oberdola is in central Germany, and Thüringen is in Austria. What am I missing here?

Why the fuck am I being downvoted for asking a simple question? I’m not from Europe and don’t understand how this works if the towns are so far apart.
