“This is a moment we have fought off for as long as we could…” the business said in an Instagram post.

INDIANAPOLIS — Casba Bar has permanently closed after nearly 40 years, the business announced in an Instagram post on Saturday, Dec. 28.

“This is a moment we have fought off for as long as we could…” the post said. “The Casba has been an integral part of the cultural fabric of the Broad Ripple Village and Indianapolis as a whole.”

The bar’s final night of operation was on Saturday, Dec. 21. At this time, it’s unclear exactly why the bar closed.

“On behalf of staff, management and ownership of the Casba, we want to thank everyone who supported us from the day we first opened our doors until the last Casba shot was served. This is truly the end of an era,” the post continued. “The culture that sustained Broad Ripple’s basement will never be replaced or replicated.”

The bar was a Broad Ripple staple, located at 6319 Guilford Ave., and was known for its popular Reggae Revolution Sundays.
