Ireland set to purchase two warships from New Zealand

  1. These are [Lake class inshore patrol vessels.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake-class_inshore_patrol_vessel)

Cool boats & all, but I think the examiner has gone a bit overboard calling them “Warships”. They have no significant hardpoints for weapons mounting (despite the mad big turret on the ship in the examiners article picture). You can whack a few machine guns on the rail if you want, but that’s about it.

New Zealand have 4 of these in total. 2 have been decommissioned & the other 2 are in active service since 2009.

    Wonder which we’re buying.

  2. Don’t we have problems crewing the vessels we already have? Was sure I read that our navy was shockingly understaffed these days.

  3. Strip out the interior, throw in a couple of sleeping bags, and boom, that’s 1800 euro rent a month right there

  4. How about you recruit sufficient naval members to man those ”Ships” that we currently have skeleton crews on..

  5. We should get the Australians to fill the with emus. If anyone tries to attack us we could release the emu horde on them.

  6. The navy is already low on manpower, so why bother buying another 2 ‘warships’? Surely there’s better ways to invest the money in. How about increasing the shitty pay to encourage people to stay?
