Back in the day before prayers and nappies would be sent

Was only thinking about him the other day.
As far as I’m aware he’s part of the Browne family of Mayo that were descendents of Grace O’Malley. Quite a unique history regarding the Brownes, they built their estate in Westport House overlooking the Quay which was then considered the original town, one generation of the Brownes decided to move them out of view of the estate and this resulted in the town of Westport being one of the few towns with a designed street layout.
More importantly, during the famine times, the Brownes imported grain from the US to support tenants and led them to become disillusioned with the British governance of Ireland. The Brownes of Westport House engaged with George Moore of Moore Hall to bring this grain in, George was the son of Louisa Browne – another connection of the Brownes in Mayo.
He probably killed loads of Irish Mercernaries, who were fighting for the Emperor of Brazil.
Usually in old style paintings the person looks of the time and not overly similar to people of today but that dude looks like a lot of men of that age that I know
