  1. Amazing to think that most of the cathedral was built in just forty years, from 1093 to about 1133. The towers and some other parts came later, but most of what you see was built in less than one Norman lifetime (give or take).

  2. One of my favourite viewpoints in the whole world – and it’s still exactly as I remember it.

20 years ago (!) I was a first-year student trudging across Prebends Bridge each day, and that view never got old. Still hasn’t.

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. Iirc there’s a waterfall at the end of that path?? If I’m correct it was beautiful

  4. I went to Durham uni and loved how beautiful it is, the cathedral is stunningly beautiful, but what I really miss are our walks alongside the smooth waters of the River Wear.

  5. The view of old Durham from the train station is a favourite of mine. Especially in the autumn when all the leaves are golden orange.

  6. I love Durham but god the centres gone to shit a bit hasnt it

  7. As someone who grew up in County Durham, this view always makes me feel like I’m home. Thank you for sharing.

  8. My home! So proud to be from there…lived in numerous parts of England but nowhere lovelier..best time ever growing up in the rock scene there…Friday nights at Dunelm House, martini on the steps outside haha..
