Guillaume enthronement not (yet) a public holiday

The government is yet to decide whether 3 October 2025 will be a public holiday, as Crown Prince Guillaume is due to ascend Luxembourg’s throne.

Grand Duke Henri announced during his Christmas speech on 24 December that he would be retiring next year with his son to take over as Luxembourg’s monarch on Friday, 3 October, nearly 25 years to the day since Henri succeeded his father, Grand Duke Jean, on 7 October 2000.

Luxembourg Airport sets new record for passenger numbers

More than five million passengers have passed through Luxembourg Airport this year for the first time ever, the airport said on Monday.

The new record was set on Friday, when the five millionth passenger of 2024, Giulia, arrived on a flight from the Italian city of Bari.
