My NIL (nephew-in-law) worked for Tesla in California after basic training plus 2-3 years as an Army Ranger. I believe he was trained as a computer engineer and he didn’t work in the factory. He was MISERABLE! He was forced to work long hours with barely any time off and was making (maybe) $40-50k a year. As an engineer…for Tesla! My “kids” all work in hospitality (chefs, etc.) and they made MORE (which says A LOT in the US!) He decided to leave and he said it was the worst and most toxic environmental experience.
EDIT: One POSITIVE thing that came out of his time there (I believe 3 years) is: because he could only afford to share a house with 4-5 Tesla guys (rent in that area can top $5k a month) and due to the long work days, he had NO social life so…he was able to save enough to backpack across Europe (not sure where) for 8 months and is now happily working in Colorado!
EDIT #2: Husband just informed me that NIL was actually RECRUITED by Tesla from the Mass Maritime Academy where he graduated top of his class! They went after HIM and then…well you know the rest!
