   It’s wild how he insists Conservative based values are intrinsic to Socialist ones. For those that don’t know, Marx was a supporter of Divorce.

4. Oh come on, every couple of months some outrageous news about NK will come out, do the rounds of mainstream media as fact, and then be quietly confirmed as nonsense months later. The truth about that regime is bad enough, this need to invent fake news is unnecessary and undermines trust in media.

6. Pretty horrible if true. Countries around the world are getting desperate to solve their demographic problems.

   A country like NK can’t easily just import millions of immigrants after all.

7. I recommend people who want to learn about North Korea from a balanced perspective read The Real North Korea by Andrei Lankov who also grew up under the Soviet Union. His analysis is that NK regime is full of corrupt elites who are still rational actors looking after their own interests as they don’t want their regime to get Gorbacheved .

   Nevertheless, the NK regime according to his analysis is more draconian than Stalin. Stalin rarely punished 3 generations of a family , never implemented a caste system that controls who can get an education and the USSR never actually decided someone’s occupation and their entire career path like NK does. There is a hereditary caste system in the North Korea based on your heritage, split into 3 groups “loyal” “wavering” and “hostile” that permanently impacts your ability to achieve advancement in the society. People will not marry down caste because the bad blood guilt carries to the children, not the good.
