Who emits the most carbon dioxide?

  1. Nice, Outsource your dirty industries and then whinge about those countries CO2 emissions as they supply you with your cheap goods.

*Your own governments bear much of the blame of allowing imports from such polluting sources driving demand as well. Europe benefits from outsourced carbon across the board, from metallurgy to plastics to electronics, even in the power generation to drive the industries. Paper by the OECD emissions in trade and domestic use, including sector specific emissions across their supply chains.

Bottom line is everyone along the chain bears responsibility including the person at the end driving demand, just as buying elephant ivory involves you in the business of encouraging poaching so does consumption of output with high CO2 footprints make you complicit in the emissions. Saying b-b-but they should regulate more its their fault for being cheaper, doesn’t absolve you of responsibility for failing to regulate your own imports and demands and the footprint that results.

  2. Turkey emits more CO2 than one of the world’s leading coal and oil extractors, Australia?

I know that we are almost 5 times the population and it doesn’t make much sense to compare the two, but damn we are filthy.

Those nuclear reactors can’t come soon enough.

  3. I don’t think it’s fair to put Russia and Turkey only in Europe.

Especially Turkey it is mostly Asia. It is only 8th place in Asia.

  4. Ah the good old “b-b-b-b-ut china so we don’t have to do anything”.

If we just divide the world up in 1 person units then no ones emission actually matters and we can just blame the others.

  5. Would be interesting to see this adjusted to carbon-offsetting programs different countries have, or in other words – have a “net-co2” comparison.

  6. Imagine if China or India were as bad as Canada or the US per capita… The planet would be toast…

  7. Data is beautiful. And still we Finnish people need to be carbon neutral by 2024 according to red green political party. Lmao.

  8. And what are they going to do about it? Absolutely nothing! But hey we have The Netherlands, a small dot on the world map trying to fight the Co2 emissions.

  9. Can I say how much I love to see when “European Union” is just listed as one bulletpoint in statistics like this? It shows me that more and more people see the EU as one entity.

  10. But but but church of Global Warming and Climate Change says the West is bad and must be punished. Don’t forget their usual stupid lines about per capita
