The Buffalo Bills demolished the New York Jets, 40-14, to solidify their spot in the postseason in Week 17 action.

The first half was a bit of a slow burn. Both defenses kept the game in check. Buffalo scored on their opening drive, but their offense could only add another field goal before halftime. The Bills defense helped out with a safety. Buffalo entered halftime with a 12-0 edge.

The Bills blew the game open in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns.

Defensively, Buffalo was relentless. The Bills sacked Aaron Rodgers four times and forced two interceptions. The unit registered six quarterback hits.

To put the exclamation point on the game, Tyrells Shavers scored on a 69-yard pass from Mitchell Trubisky.

From there on, the game reflected a preseason game. The Jets added two garbage-time touchdowns to break the shutout.

Simply put, it was a tremendous day for Buffalo.

Buffalo’s defense caused a plethora of problems for the Jets. Aaron Rodgers lacked time to make anything happen in the backfield. Ed Oliver, Von Miller, and AJ Epenesa recorded a sack each, while Greg Rousseau and DaQuan Jones split a sack. Christian Benford and Jordan Phillips registered interceptions in the game. Buffalo’s defense allowed only 148 total yards with Rodgers at the helm.

Josh Allen continued his run of great play with another great performance. Allen extended plays and gave his receivers great opportunities to make plays.

Allen opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown reception. Then, he added two tremendous touchdown passes in the third quarter. His passes to Amari Cooper and Keon Coleman will undoubtedly be on highlight reels Sunday night.

Allen’s numbers were stellar, but his ability to make things happen is otherworldly. In three quarters of action, Allen went 16-of-27 for 182 passing yards and two touchdown passes. He added 17 yards on five rushes and a touchdown on the ground as well.

Buffalo’s offense destroyed the Jets in the third quarter. Amari Cooper caught a spectacular 30-yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone. The Bills followed that up with a James Cook rushing touchdown. On the third series of the quarter, Allen rolled to his right and threw across his body. Keon Coleman went up and outjumped the Jets defenders.

The Bills added to the rout with a 69-yard touchdown pass to Tyrell Shavers. Shavers took a short pass from Mitchell Trubisky and sliced through the New York defense on his way for the score.

The Bills conclude their season against the New England Patriots. Buffalo defeated the Patriots in two weeks ago in a tight 24-21 battle. The Bills are the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs, so expect a lot of rest time for the Bills starters next week.
