The Pittsburgh Steelers expect to play a game in Ireland in 2025, according to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac. Dulac says the Steelers have been informed that if there will be an Ireland game, the Steelers will likely be the home team. Since they will have nine home games, 2025 will be a year where they can go internationally and play.
The Steelers have not played an international game since 2013 when they traveled to London to face the Minnesota Vikings. Team president Art Rooney II has pushed for a game in Ireland in recent years after the Steelers were given international marketing rights by the NFL in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
“We’re hoping that sometime soon we’ll be playing another game in Ireland. We played back in the ’90s, it was a preseason game. We expect next time we play a game in Ireland it will probably be a regular-season game. And who knows, it could be one of these years coming up soon,” Rooney said in March.
The game will likely be played in Dublin. With such open advocacy for the game, those plans could come to fruition. The NFL has already expanded its international game package for 2025 with a game coming to Madrid, Spain. There are other candidates, including Paris, that could earn a game, but Dublin seems to be high on the list and the Steelers will almost certainly host that game.
