After Buckingham Palace announced on October 1 that Princess Beatrice was expecting her second child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Bea’s sister, Princess Eugenie, took to Instagram to to celebrate the happy news: “So looking forward to more on this journey of motherhood together,” she wrote.
Eugenie – who shares sons August, 3, and Ernest, 16 months, with hubby Jack Brooksbank, 38 – elaborated on her choice of wording a week later. “I posted about our mothering journey, because it really is like you become part of a club — a mothering club,” she told Hello! “And when your children are the same age and they’re going through the same things, it’s just the luckiest thing in the world.”
Both Bea, 36, and Eugenie, 34, also count themselves lucky to have Princess Kate — wife of their cousin Prince William, 42 — as a member of their mommy squad. “The three of them ask each other for advice and share parenting tips and hacks,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “They feel like they’re in a special club because only they know what it’s like to be a royal mom.”
The trio have group chats (that often include the sisters’ mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York) and know advice is just one message away. “They all bounce ideas and suggestions off each other,” reveals the insider. “Kate, Beatrice and Eugenie have an alliance. They laugh and share stories about their unique experiences of parenting while the world watches their every move.”
Like Eugenie’s eldest son, Beatrice’s daughter Sienna is 3 (she also has a stepson, Wolfie, 8, from her 40-year-old spouse’s prior relationship), while Kate and William’s kids — George, 11, Charlotte, 9 and Louis, 6 — are a little bit older. That makes the Princess of Wales, 42, a valuable resource when it comes to developmental milestones for mini royals.
“The sisters really do look up to Kate,” notes the insider. “They appreciate her easy going but firm mothering style — how she gracefully handles situations, especially when things get difficult, like with her cancer battle this year.”
Though all the royals are a source of public curiosity, Eugenie and Beatrice know they have it easy compared to their cousin’s family. “Kate is under a microscope a lot more than they are, so she tells Bea and Eugenie to make sure they enjoy the quiet, little moments,” says the insider.
And Kate’s not the only one eager to help the regal sisters out with their growing children, adds the insider: “Charlotte says she’d absolutely love to babysit Eugenie and Beatrice’s kids one day!”
