  1. > Boris Johnson to address nation

have we not heard enough from this idiot for the last 2 years?

Does anyone know how to complain to reality’s manager?

  2. Why most people won’t give a crap and it’s not like he’s going to declare war is it, it’s just a PR stunt from his new team to make him more statesmenlike.

  3. Eurgh, Boris. After the last two years, does he really need to address the nation to tell us he isn’t going to do anything.

    We already know.

  4. Where he will blabber on about the gravest danger since WW2 & how we all need to band together and forget the parties they had, whilst simultaneously doing next to fuck all in terms of sanctions.

If we had a pair of stones we would have kicked them out of SWIFT earlier this morning when the tanks first crossed the border.

  5. “Putin has broken international law in specific and limited way, therefore we will sanction Russia further with another slap on the wrist.”

“Stop it, bad… bad Russia. No.”

  6. Unless he calls for immediate sanctions to Russia and to freeze all Russian assets in the UK, it will be meaningless piffle from him. He is going to use this as his Churchill moment (something I suspect he is giddy about), however a speech means nothing when I doubt he has an effective plan to deal with this.

  7. Today we find out whether our political establishment has been totally penetrated by the Kremlin.

If we announce anything as ineffective and pathetic as what we saw the other day then I think we know what’s happened.

  8. Probably will give the rest of Russian Oligarchs a warning to move their money about as we will sanction them next week.

  9. I reckon his statement will involve stammering, some sort of joke, mentions levelling up and erm some sanctions

  10. “This morning the British Ambassador in Moscow handed the Russian Government

a final note stating that, unless we heard from them by 11 o’clock that they

were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Ukraine, then we would get very annoyed at them.

I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and

that consequently this country is now very cross with Russia.

You can imagine what a bitter blow it is to me that all my long struggle to

gain money and power has been interrupted by beastly Ivan. Yet I cannot believe that there is anything more or
anything different that I could have done and that would have been more enriching to me than sucking on the teat of Russian oligarchs indefinitely”

  11. I’ve posted this elsewhere already but you can’t have too much of a good thing:

People here who have free time, use your free time to **write an email to the office of your MP** asking them why UK sanctions against Russia, Belarus and the Russian occupation zones of Abkhazia, Donetsk, Luhansk, Transnistria and South Ossetia have been so light.

    * Why are large numbers of Putin-connected, Lukashenko-connected and Putin puppet-connected people and organisations that have been sanctioned by other countries not been sanctioned by the UK?

    * Why have no secondary sanctions been put forward on people in organisations that are aiding the Russian and/or Belarusian government and military, or those of Russian puppet occupation zones, while based in other countries?

    * Why has the UK not put forward plans to, with other European countries, establish more nuclear power plants as well as gas pipelines that aren’t reliant on Russia and/or Belarus?

    * Why isn’t the UK pushing to expel the Russian, Belarusian and occupied zone banking systems from the global interbank communication system SWIFT? Why are our NATO allies not also pushing for this?

    * Why are there direct flights available from the UK to Russia right now? Why are there one-stop flights available from the UK to Belarus right now?

    * Why isn’t the UK pushing to remove the Russian Federation’s permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council? Why are our NATO allies also not pushing for this?

    * Why didn’t the UK offer to help evacuate other nationalities from Ukraine, such as bringing some of the 20,000 Indian nationals in Ukraine to India, in exchange for their governments covering the costs of the flights? This has been a massive failure in international diplomacy.

    * Why don’t there seem to be any plans by Parliament to expertly assess what the successes and failures of the last few months of our approach to Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and the Russian occupation zones have been?

  12. “Whilst our hearts are with the Ukrainian people, our fists are filled with money by our Russian donors and so we will do absolutely nothing apart from some smoke and mirror sanctions to keep the plebs happy. Da zdravstvuyet Putin, slava Rossii!”

  13. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” What about when the man in power isn’t even good?

  14. The only way we could stop Russia taking over Ukraine is a large scale mobilization of our armed forces, probably including conscription.

What’s the point, then, in little piecemeal sanctions and support for Ukraine? They’re still annexing it, but all we’ll have done is alienated another country and harmed our economy.

I think a lot of the Western response is PR. Appearing to have done something to help, rather than actually impacting the situation. The weapons we’ve given are either gifts or sold on credit, so we’re unlikely to even get the money back for them.

  15. I imagine it’s gonna be something like this:

In light of the ongoing crisis in the Ukraine. I have chosen to address the the nation. Now you can eerr be assured the our um nation will not stand idly by and watch. The UK stands against this arr illegal ar war. And we remain um united with America, Europe and NATO in condemning this wanton aggression. But we will not be deploying troops and will be focusing on diplomatic channels.

  16. He should address Parliament so we might hear from some competent and properly informed voices.

I bet part of him absolutely loves the idea of being a war-time PM

  17. Gonna tell us his buddies are being naughty and he’s going to give them a slap on the wrist. The cunt

  18. What’s he going to say exactly? There was Russian money and influence on [Brexit,](https://www.csis.org/blogs/brexit-bits-bobs-and-blogs/did-russia-influence-brexit) the Conservatives have accepted [£2 million](https://twitter.com/adambienkov/status/1496404306530123776?s=21) in donations from Russia and Johnson is said to have been [compromised](https://bylinetimes.com/2022/02/23/has-prime-minister-boris-johnson-been-compromised-by-russia/) by Russia from a security standpoint.

  19. Boris has the physical weight to match Churchill but doesn’t have the aural weight of Churchill, let alone the strength.

  20. Boris The Nonce “Wobble, Wobble, Wobble, Spaffing money up the wall, errr, err, errr Jimmy Saville, Child sex, Wobble Wobble”

  21. The idea that this feeble man represents the UK on the world stage. If this is reality, I want to get of the bus.

  22. Meanwhile the EU (who are corrupt apparently) are working as one with NATO to hit Russia with sanctions, Boris will make it jolly hard for the current Chelsea squad to get their win bonus .
We on the other hand are wondering what to do with the dirty money stashed in the bank of England and what will happen to house prices and the property market in London’s more affluent areas.
Brexiteers got their union jack shorts in a twist over the idea of a European army and the idea of unity is strength. And yet here is Boris and Lizzie Truss acting as if they are in it with their European neighbours.
Priti Patel will be already tightening immigration and refugee status rules on foreign nationals, starting with countries beginning with the letter U.
Ukraine understand, Russia understands that being alone makes you vulnerable in many , many ways.

  23. As I have mentioned before Jacob Rees – mogg has sent an expeditionary force to the Crimea, cavalry, heavy artillery and several journalists from the times set sail with much cheering this morning, expected to arrive ( with favourable winds) in three to four weeks.

  24. ✲sigh✲ I can just see it…

Boris: “It’s time to give Jerry another damn good thrashing…”

    CON +40

  25. Am I being silly to hold off making any long terms plans this year due to this/covid? Like, I feel like there’s no point in even trying to live life when ww3 is just around the corner

  26. Given this government’s cavalier attitude to life during a *pamdemic* I shudder to think of how our military and public would be used during a war…

  27. Guys, guys,

I think I’ve finally found a good thing about Brexit: we have the ability to put way harsher sanctions on Russia than the EU will.

    Will it happen?

    Of course fucking not.

  28. Let’s not forget that Liz Truss is Defence Secretary in the midst of all this.

If it was on the *Thick Of It* it’d be hilarious. It is not. It is a shit show.

  29. Another opportunity to try and further distance himself from the partygate issues while simultaneously downplaying Russian money within the Tory party.
