  1. >“There’s a certain kind of actor who gets a thrill out of legally being able to harm a woman during a fight sequence,” she explained. “And I was harmed, to the point where there were MRIs proving it. I was gaslit and made to feel like I was the problem and blamed and left out of cast dinners as soon as I mentioned there was a problem.”

    >Then there was a photoshoot that Beckinsale was “forced by a publicist” to do “the day after I had a miscarriage. I said, ‘I can’t. I’m bleeding. I don’t want to go and change my clothes in front of people I don’t know and do a photo shoot. I’m bleeding out a miscarriage,’ She was like, ‘You’ll have to, or you’ll be sued.’”

    >“This is going on. This has been going on forever. I have 47 million stories similar to this,” Beckinsale said about the harassment female actors often face on sets. “I was 18 and felt up by somebody who I trusted on the crew. I went to the lead actress who was known for being a supporter of women and said this is happening and was told, ‘No, it didn’t.’ I went to another actress and said I’d just been assaulted by this man and told, ‘No, you haven’t been.’”

    >“If you mention it you’re fucked,” Beckinsale added about why it continues to be impossible for women to be heard on sets. “It’s supposed to be you absorb it and somehow you’re the homie. That has to stop. I am grateful to Blake Lively for highlighting this is not an archaic problem no one is facing. This is continuing. When it does happen a machine goes in place to absolutely destroy you.”

  2. You know… I’m starting to think Hollywood might be a smidge evil.

You put every money hungry and fame hungry person in the same city and nothing good will come of it.

  3. Now, imagine having all those things happen for $12 an hour. Welcome to retail.

  4. At the height of the #metoo movement, I remember reading where a lot of Meryl Streep’s fans had quoted her saying that while working with Dustin Hoffman (Kramer vs Kramer) he had groped her. And yet, once this started to make the rounds, Streep denied it happening.

Why would she backtrack? Is someone as well-known as her also afraid of a backlash and possibly being blackballed?

Strange how she’s basically covering for him.

  5. But she never says anything about how she’s on the long obvious list of actresses that slept with Weinstein to get a boost.

  6. My god, I had to go down a rabbithole and eventually her Instagram account to confirm that this photo is actually of Kate Beckinsale. The amount of work she’s had done is absolutely tragic. She looks like a generic Instagram influencer now. No doubt the way she was treated has contributed to this.

  7. The set she mentions where the male lead was making everyone wait and show up drunk on set was Luke Wilson in the horror / thriller film Vacancy (2007) and I’m assuming that the ones where she was on a strict diet was one of the earlier Underworld movies.

  8. she’s just trying to get in the tabloids again, like usual….shes so thirsty, it’s so strange she spiraraled so hard the last few years

  9. Publicist trying to prevent a lawsuit heading towards Kate doesn’t sound like a bad thing

  10. I always hear about her being unhinged but I couldn’t find anything other than posts alleging things. Admittedly she’s a character on Instagram but seems like most celebrities are.

  11. Is that really her face??? I didn’t even recognize her…

  12. This is all probably true, but these stories about how x shoot was traumatizing and how much female actors get mistreated garners less and less sympathy from the public who all have stories like this without the gajillion dollars and a job where you are hot and famous for a living and have the privilege of your victimization narrative being national news for publicity.

Hollywood has never felt more elitist and out of touch, and Kate Beckinsale is like the poster child for out of touch and desperate for relevance.

  13. People wonder why all these celebrities get these surgeries that change how they look, but it’s not shocking when you hear about everything they’ve put up with for the sake of “securing future roles”. I’d probably want to look like someone else after while too.

  14. I feel bad for her. Just want to start with that because nuance online is difficult. I feel worse for the actresses who didn’t play the Weinstein game and were left jobless. Furthermore, the last 15 years I have been in top HR roles. I feel even worse for the everyday people that are harassed and have zero option. As a man, we’re dumb, it’s easy to have all the information to make a decision. Women are WAY worse. They are insidious. They do things that are easier to deny. Then even when red handed I have seen, We can’t lose a female VP.

The point is, our kids in everyday life deal with people that abuse their power over them. I have seen men and women alike that the system doesn’t support them and they need to leave a good job. I’m just saying, since the dawn of time people will abuse their power. Men and women. Some actresses paid with their careers by not playing the game. If Kate has invested even half assed she’s set for life. That’s more than regular folks have. She made a choice to wait until now to come forward. It’s not heroic at the end of your career.
