This has two potential outcomes, the first is that it will be deemed unconstitutional and overturned by the Supreme Court, the second is that the cost of the legislation will be passed on to consumers in NY. I don’t understand why elected officials fail to comprehend that these types of law just increase cost of energy for everyone, including disadvantage communities which can’t afford the increases. To think that a company like BP or ExxonMobil will just absorb these costs smacks of incompetence to understand how businesses function. they’ll just factor the cost of this law into their cost of doing business in the State of New York.
