In 2025, this iconic tune will be 30 years old (yes, the film was 1996, but the song came out as a B-side the year before)

  1. Here’s the story…

The original 1995 Underworld 12″ was called “Born Slippy,” and it had three tracks:

    born slippy

    .NUXX

    TEL EMATIC

For the “Trainspotting” soundtrack, the producers wanted the track “.NUXX,” but didn’t want the centerpiece track to be called “.NUXX.” So “.NUXX” was renamed “Born Slippy” for the soundtrack. The track then became huge.

To avoid confusion, they starting referring to “.NUXX” also as “Born Slippy.NUXX.” Then they applied the same logic to “TEL EMATIC,” renaming it “Born Slippy.TEL EMATIC.”

But “born slippy” was just a different track on the same three-track record. The original artwork uses only the titles I listed above, and none of the revised titles.

  2. Damn if there ever was a track to make you nostalgic for your youth.
