1. I would be surprised if Russia held the same level of presence in Syria as I doubt Syrians themselves would tolerate them after being killed by them for years.

   Russia though will no doubt be throwing massive amounts of money and other sweeteners at Syria new Government to hand on any way they can .

2. It seems like Syria is just trying to not alienate anyone at this point. China has offered help, they’re extending an olive branch to Russia, they’re making statements hoping that trump will have a better Syrian policy than Biden, they’re courting the EU and trying to turn the other cheek with Israel. If one doesn’t work, they can go another route. The only people they seem to be actively saying no to is Iran and Hezbollah, which is totally understandable and good for countries like the US. Hopefully the west will take advantage of this open mindedness and help create a Syria that’s an ally for decades to come.

3. Can’t see the source but this smells like misinformation. Keep military presence while we know that bases are in the process of leaving. Have good relations while we know that the average syrian absolutely hates Russia for their atrocities
