  1. Up until last Tuesday, it was tracking a $25 mil 5-Day, so the nearly 40% increase to a $40+ mil 5-Day is hugely impressive.

I loved the movie, and will happily praise it, but I never expected it to do as well as it is: Everyone involved in this production, both in front and behind of the camera is #winning.

  2. Went to see it on the 26th and the theater was packed. Felt good.

  3. That headline makes no fucking sense! Drove a stake through would be to kill, stop it end it, meaning low box office receipts….

  4. It’s just a good movie—well crafted, well acted, creepy, just well done on all fronts. Probably Robert Eggers’ best movie so far. I think people can see that and are responding to it.

  5. How does this hold up against the prior, like 20, Nosferatu/Dracula movies? Like, what makes this one worth watching over the old Keanu Reeves one?

  6. This is even more impressive given how few viewing slots it had being sandwiched between Mufasa and Sonic 3. Our local theater only had a few times a day and only ONE Dolby slot 9PM.

I can’t help but feel like it would have been an even bigger release had it not had such terrible timing.

  7. People love vampire stories. It’s the perfect blend of creepy, romance, lust, death.

  8. Turns out, you make a good fucking film, market it right and put it in theatres, you’ll get a good fucking audience showing up for it. Streaming made the corporates forget about this.

  9. Now go watch the Herzog one from 79. Its on Prime. It slaps.

  10. It’s almost like a good movie does well at the box office and makes money. Maybe theaters aren’t dead and maybe there have been a lot of shit movies released this year.

  11. Ok ppl, will non high brow types like this one?or will we be scratching our heads at the end?

  12. Good, I hope it starts a new era of gothic horror cinema

  13. Eggers: “Mark me down as scared and horny!”

  14. When I went to see The Northman the theater was nearly empty. For Nosferatu is was completely packed except for a few seats in the very front row.

  15. Theatre was two thirds full when we went. Definitely a surprise.

  16. Hmmmm… so if you make a good movie, people will see it? Can’t we just watch Toy Story 7 instead?

  17. Saw it yesterday, I REALLY enjoyed this movie. The cinematography was excellent. The acting was great.

  18. Fucking deserves it. Just got back and that movie was brilliant!

  19. Great movie, watch the original & appreciate it even more.

  20. The cast was excellent and I wanna take a moment to praise Simon McBurney. His performance as Herr Knock was so deranged and unhinged.

  21. Is it maybe because there is nothing else in the cinema? Whenever the studio has to flood the Internet with fake reviews to trick people into watching wicked then it is clear what a desperate state the industry is in. Now we are heralding remakes as a a success rather than unoriginal laziness.

  22. saw it today and it was packed.

not in my top 10 for the year even. it was alright. very well acted and everything. just felt the story was missing something
