One of the most important things you can do about climate change is talk about it.

  1. I have. No one cares.

Sure, people say they care, in the sense that, “Someone needs to do something about climate change.” But when you have a 70 degree day at the end of December and people are saying, “Man, isn’t this weather AWESOME!”, even after you’ve talked about the connection between climate change and unusually high temperatures?

When the US as a whole spends almost $1 trillion to celebrate Christmas, and almost every single dollar spent is accompanied by emissions?

When air and cruise ship travel are booming, and only expected to continue increasing?

When half of new vehicle sales globally are high-emitting SUVs, and still increasing year after year?

When meat consumption is still increasing globally?

When the US votes for climate-denier Trump, and other countries are also leaning farther right, which comes with more climate denial?

When even here in r/climate, where everyone ostensibly is well-informed about climate change, a lot of people still say, “That person needs to change before I will?”

The most important thing you can do is change, not talk about change.
