A few years ago my wife and I started a tradition of every Sunday writing on a post-it something that made us happy that week and putting it in a jar. On NYE we tip it out and go through them, looking back on all the good times we had. It’s a great way to remember the better parts of the year, even when it can sometimes feel like it gets you down.

  1. I spend every NYE with Tom Hanks and Emma Stone.

One day they’ll do a film together and save me two hours.

  2. Not mine, but a family friend, sadly no longer with us, had a tradition where at the stroke of midnight she would open both her back and front doors. The old year would leave through the back door, and the new year would enter through the front.

  3. This sounds like a wonderful thing to do. I might steal this.

  4. I try to be in the shower at two minutes to midnight so I can ritually wash off the old year with my bestest soap. then I go into the new year all pink and squeaky clean, like a good boy.

  5. My wife used to want me to leave the house just before midnight through the back door

Then when the chimes finished I would walk in through the front door

She really wanted a tall dark man

but she settled for me instead!!!!

(her son used to do it before he started taking more interest in his girlfriend – he is tall and dark haired)
