  1. as much as i hate Compass group they deserved this win against a guy who had 9 months off on full pay because he was self-entitled. everyone had to make sacrifices.

  2. > “One of his key duties was to transport patients within the hospital setting. This would not only see him come into contact with the patient but also a number of other individuals.”

It would be pretty stupid if he had won.

  3. “Alternative measures to wearing a mask such as social distancing were “not possible,”

Would a face shield not have sufficed?

Don’t get me wrong – The guy is ridiculous given his proximity to vulnerable people; but if he had such an adverse reaction to wearing a mask, was a face shield considered?

  4. Yet that group of nurses and other patient facing staff who refused to be vaccinated at the time due to unfounded fears and conspiracy loon nonsense got away with it….

  5. From the article,

    >In March 2021, during the pandemic, a nurse complained about him wearing his mask below his nose, the tribunal heard.

He was spoken to by management, but soon afterwards, began turning up to work without a mask and wearing an exemption badge, the tribunal was told.

The porter told staff he did “not like things obstructing his face”, and could not wear any kind of mask.

So, he was initially happy to wear a mask, just incorrectly. Then, after being reminded to wear it properly, he suddenly claims an exemption and stops wearing one entirely.

Hard not to see it as a deliberate escalation or an overreaction to being corrected—almost as if he was making a point rather than addressing a legitimate concern—rather than a genuine need for an exemption.

  6. Should have given him chemo, then the option of not wearing a mask.

  7. I had a theory that the only people that were set against the masks just had really bad breath and didn’t want to deal with it

I know i’ve increased my chewing gum consumption since

  8. I’m sorry but you are around vulnerable people, you have a responsibility to these people.

  9. Guarantee before covid someone like them would have had no issue doing this. The nutters really did a number on the general populus during covid.

  10. I feel a mask in a hospital setting where immunocompromised people are, should be the standard.

  11. Curious, cuz I haven’t been in a hospital I’m a while, bit are they required to wear one now?

  12. This is one of those cases where the employee should have just quit if they felt that strongly about masks. There was never going to be any leniency on this policy and for very good reason, so if the porter could not handle the thought of wearing a mask that badly then they should cut their losses and looked for another job.

  13. dude worked in a hospital, so good. Patient safety is paramount in that environment.
