  1. Happy New Year from your friendly regulators and Government!

  2. Average energy bills now £170 higher than when Labour came to power. They promised to lower bills by £300 per year pre election. Not going well.

  3. To summarise:

    > Increase of 1.2%

    > Equates to ca. £21 increase

    > Relates exclusively to wholesale cost of power (+VAT)

    > Cap is set on a look back basis, observing the wholesale cost of power over a 3 month period (aug-oct? Someone please correct me if I’m wrong!)

Tbh there is less reason to be on the cap than there was 2 years ago, competition is returning to the fixed contract retail market.

  4. This is labour promising to reduce the cost of living crisis? People should take note!

  5. Ofgem is making sure they get maximum profits for the fatcats . Imagine if utilities were government owned..

  6. I love paying nearly £1 a day even if I’m not using any energy at all.

Standing charge gouging is the new way we’re getting ripped off now that people are getting solar panels and stuff.

  7. Meanwhile electricity prices are still tied to the highest costing source when the UK is producing much cheaper from renewable sources.

  8. yesterday they was saying electric os free now. make up your twatting mind.

  9. But remember guys. Privatisation is great for the consumer as it drives down prices!
(Oops we now have the most expensive and least efficient utility bills and public transport in the world).

  10. Yet I saw something yesterday about record levels of wind power bringing wholesale prices down….
