After a tumultuous 2024, Princess Kate is set to celebrate her 43rd birthday on January 9, but the occasion will be observed with measured care, a royal expert has revealed.

Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that the Prince and Princess of Wales are “being very careful” ahead of the milestone, opting for a step-by-step approach in planning.

No official details have been released regarding the Princess’s birthday celebration, but Fitzwilliams emphasized the couple’s cautious strategy.

“If you look at Kensington Palace and the way they handled this, they’ve been very careful,” he said.

Princess Kate, who completed preventative chemotherapy treatment last year, has spoken about the challenges of her recovery, acknowledging in September that her journey is ongoing.

“She must take each day as it comes,” Fitzwilliams added, suggesting that any significant plans for her birthday or royal duties are being made with sensitivity to her health and well-being.

2024 was described as “brutal” by Prince William, who called it “the hardest year” of his life following Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis in March.

Reflecting on the year, William expressed pride in his wife’s strength.

“It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult. But I’m so proud of my wife,” he said.

The Princess of Wales, a mother of three, has also expressed her eagerness to return to her royal duties.

Fitzwilliams added: “Success in chemotherapy and beating cancer is one thing; pulling back completely and being able to tour as she would normally is completely different.”

While Princess Kate has participated in meetings and other light royal engagements, the Waleses have refrained from making any long-term commitments. Plans for trips, including a previously rumored visit to Italy, have been approached with caution.

Royal watchers are eager to see the Princess resume her active role, but as Fitzwilliams added: “There have been no dates or indications given, so I do think we have to be careful.”
