Rising water levels are also observed in other rivers in Kurzeme.

On Thursday, January 2, a yellow high water level warning is in force for rivers in Kurzeme. The sections affected by wind-driven floods showed more drastic fluctuations. An orange warning has been issued for the Durbe River area and is valid until 15:00 on Friday, January 3.

An orange warning means that flooding of property and transport infrastructure is possible. Electricity and water supply, and telecommunications may be disrupted. Evacuation may be necessary. Residents are urged not to visit or move in flood-prone areas, not to endanger themselves, and not to delay rescue services.

The LVĢMC warned that the water level rise will continue, and floodplains of several rivers will be widely flooded, in some places also the lower parts.
