  1. **SIR KEIR Starmer was accused of losing control of the country’s borders as small boat arrivals increased by some 29 per cent since Labour came to power.**

  2. More riling up of the masses by the Sun.

Glad we don’t stock it round here.

  3. The media in this country will be and has been partly responsible for the rise of Nigel Farage.

  4. They seem to be making some sort of point about Rawanda being a deterrent. I’m fairly sure nobody is falling for this nonsense – even if they had successfully deported 1,000 people there that would still be something like a 2% chance of going, which is probably similar to the chance of death while crossing, something all these people already accepted.

Labour sent more people back to their country of origin in the last 7 months than the Tories did over 14 years and *that* looks like a credible deterrent. People will not come if they think they will be sent back again. If even that does not work then how was the Rawanda gimmick ever going to do anything?

  5. People here more outraged over the source than the actual issue……. Says it all really.

So, so many people willing to die on a hill defending and justifying open borders, which literally has the country on its knees economically and socially.

What’s coming at the ballot box in 2029 should come as a suprise to literally no one.

  6. This article is hilarious

It says migrants are soaring, and it’s source is the AFP (which is the journalistic equivalent to gesturing in a broad cardinal direction that your source is somewhere over there), but the AFP’s own source for all their data is government data publicly available on [gov.uk](http://gov.uk), which says it literally *isn’t* soaring.

    [Dataset can be found here](https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/view.aspx?src=https%3A%2F%2Fassets.publishing.service.gov.uk%2Fmedia%2F67656a7f4e2d5e9c0bde9c85%2F20_Dec_2024_Small_boats_-_time_series.ods&wdOrigin=BROWSELINK)

If you convert that to a line graph, you see very clearly the migrant numbers is actually getting progressively *smaller.*

It’s still high in absolute terms compared to data afrom before 2021, but it’s lower than it was under the last few years of Tory rule.

2022 was the worst year for migrant crossing, followed by 2021. As it stands 2024 and 2023 are fairly similar in terms of numbers although there was a notable spike in October 2024.

So no, channel crossing are not “soaring”, they’re overall lower than they were under the tories. Still high don’t get me wrong. But the Sun is being disingenuous… *again.*

  7. How can you lose control of something that he never had? Control was never there well before Kier became PM.

  8. It’s infuriating to have to pay to reject The Sun’s cookies!

  9. The state of our fucking news media is a constant source of national shame. They’re so hideously partisan it just reduces all of their output to propaganda.

We all know this problem exists because of 3 successive Tory governments allowed it to by actively prohibiting the civil service and policing mechanisms that would manage it. I’d go so far as to say they wanted it to exist considering how they and the right have weaponised the problem in elections.

  10. Which PM? Because the current one has fuck all to do with it.

  11. I loved the excuse I heard earlier, ~“that a lot of migrants waited until after the election, if they had come with their normal pace there wouldn’t have been a spike under kier”. Shame the presenter didn’t press on what they thought the deterrent pre-election was, maybe 🇬🇧->🇷🇼?

  12. Russias no1 strategy is to funnel illegal immigration on all our shores. Time to call them for what they are “A terrorist state”.

  13. The UK is a funny country.

Just the same cycles of gaslighting and issues.

    Repeat in 20 years.

Meanwhile we keep these morons in power, left or right, Tory or Labour, they’re all the same

  14. Utter rubbish.

In the months labour have been in power in 2024, crossing are down 30% compared to the same months in 2023.

On top of this they have deported more people in 2024 than the Tories have in 14 years.

A one-off blip because of good weather is meaningless. This is just disinformation.

  15. I ain’t signing up to the sun, to read this article. Tories being upset or furious with Labour is like saying water is wet.

  16. He never had it just like the last 20 years where they never had it.

  17. Please just fuck off. They have been rising fir years and the last shit shower in various forms did fuck all about it.

  18. Why arent they reporting the amount of people being deported at the same time? And why isnt the govenement making a big deal of the deportations?

  19. Surely there’s a bot that can automatically remove any post from The Sun.

  20. I think there numbers crossing the channel much lower then what are really coming this is 1 port what about airports the numbers are huge

  21. Need to know who’s on the take from all of this….
As Lestor Freemon says in The Wire…
    Just Follow the money…

  22. Labour are deporting illegal migrants at a higher rate than the conservatives did, but the key to reducing channel crossings is to process their applications on the french side by building and staffing processing centres in calais. You give people a legal and safe way to apply for asylum, and then weed out the fraudulent claims, channel crossings will plummet. Labour need time to unfuck this mess.

  23. The PM or govt makes zero difference. The people on the ground doing the policing and patrolling work or trying to stop them ie civil servants, police etc etc haven’t changed – and it’s not like they aren’t trying and haven’t been doing their best to stop this.

  24. Ah yes, because Sunak had them locked down didn’t he

  25. So I can’t even go in certain areas as landowners will shoot at me or the military will lock me up but they can just rock up on our land and walk free?

  26. They should be furious at the idiots who ran the Brexit campaign and demand that the UK return to the EU

  27. Nooo, he didn’t say ‘Smashing the gangs’ he said ‘Smashing, the gangs!’
