A total of 14 people were awarded the Icelandic Order of the Falcon at Bessastaðir yesterday.
According to a statement from the Office of the President, handball coach Þórir Hergeirsson was abroad and will receive his order on the occasion.

Brian Pilkington, artist, Knight’s Cross for contributions to illustration and children’s literature.
Edvarð Júlíus Sólnes, professor emeritus of environmental and civil engineering, Knight’s Cross for pioneering work in the field of earthquake prevention and environmental protection.
Geirlaug Þorvaldsdóttir, hotelier, Knight’s Cross for contributions to tourism, culture and the preservation of Icelandic art.
Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir, soccer player, Knight’s Cross for achievements in soccer.
Íris Inga Grönfeldt, sports scientist, Knight’s Cross for contributions to sports and health promotion of children, adolescents, and adults in the local area.
Jón Þór Hannesson, producer, sound engineer, and filmmaker, Knight’s Cross for pioneering work in filmmaking.
