Although I don’t like flying there is no way I would choose train over flight. Plane is just more comfortable and faster. This is just my personal preference.
Trains are way too slow
Brussels to Talinn, by train. Is it possible, what will it cost me, and how long does it take me?
Is there a website that can answer the question above, and order me some tickets that are less than double the price of air travel?
I really envy people that have time and money to swap a 2.5h direct flight with a full day train ride.
Remember that time in the 90s when we could have prevented climate change with nuclear power and Greenpeace protested it and spread FUD?
Yeah, pepperidge farm remembers.
The commoners use Trains while the Higher Ups use Planes. stonks
One problem not addressed: lots of short haul flights are connecting flights for intercontinental ones. For passenger rights they must be on one ticket, or a delay in the first one will make you lose any rights for further travel. Nit everyone can go by train a day before and stay in an airport hotel overnight to ensure on-time arrival.
lets see I could get a train from London to Copenhagen for 330 pounds and it will take me 26 hours or i can fly for 14 quid and I will be there within 3 hours. hard decision
HS trains are great until you have salt water or big mountains between you and where you are going. As a tourist, night trains save you hotel costs and are more efficient as you travel while you sleep.
I typically pay around 100€ for a train ride – one way – across most of Germany. Say, Munich to Hamburg. Just to get to my city to the nearest international airport (~60km), a train ride, one way, costs me 20€.
Meanwhile, I flew from London to Frankfurt last week for 38€.
I’m all for utilizing trains more, but only if there’s an abundance of desicated high-speed tracks, and prices go down significantly.
