Can you believe that that has just been laying there undisturbed for 2,000 years? Fascinating. Which museum is it going to?
I wonder who the last person to walk on it was before it was buried like that
Romanes eunt domus
It’s crazy that he’s just taking a sponge to it lol, A bit of Cillit Bang and will be good as new.
This is amazing, but I’m also fascinated by how it was announced just around the same time there were so many rumours of the Queen’s death on Twitter — such that “London Bridge” as a trending topic (due to the “London Bridge is down” (presumably false) tweets) was rapidly drowned out by links to this story about something found near London Bridge. I’m sure it was just coincidence, but it has echoes of [Johnson’s weird painting red model buses thing](https://twitter.com/jayrayner1/status/1144001258187042822).

The Gallery it is in is also really good:

Also just in general the City of London is superior to the rest of London IMHO
I’m always amazed at how far down these things are. How did it end up several feet below surface level?
Some builders found a Roman temple in the City 7 metres below surface level. Seven metres. How on Earth does that happen?
[It’s only been 3 months since they found the last mosaic.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-59391650)
I’m amazed that it hasn’t warped in anyway. It’s still relatively close to the River.
I bet the property developer is livid
