  1. Tldr: residents think to many houses are being built and are being NIMBYS about it.

In actual problems for the place, it seems that it’s ONLY new houses being built so they don’t have any new schools or doctors or road capacity so all the towns amenities are at breaking point.

  2. That’s what happens went as a country you basically fetishise living in a village/the countryside. ‘Everyone’ wants to live in a village, because of this villages get ‘over developed’

  3. Like all the villages and small towns near me, local authorities granting planning permission for new housing without any regard to local roads, schools, healthcare or amenities.

I’m 100% on board with Labour trying to build 1.5m new homes in this Parliament, but there needs to be a ratio of additional assets required when planning new housing developments.

  4. I have been there a few times, have friends who live nearby. The roads are mostly country lanes. There is one pub, a small primary school and a mini mart / village shop. This is a village in countryside and woodland miles from a train station.
Houses definitively need to be built somewhere but you would hope the local amenities would be upto supporting the extra residents. The developers don’t care about this.
